The Vocal Viol - Daniel Rippe
- - - - - How To Order the CD.Music for Viola da Gamba and Viol Consort Transcribed from Early Vocal Repertoire, $15
"Rare is the instrument whose sound has not been compared to that of the human voice, measure of all things musical. For my exploration of the vocal qualities of the viol, I have chosen to play on it vocal music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, along with selections as far back as Hildegard of Bingen in the 12th century and forward to a vocal quartet my brother wrote in 2006."
Full album and track notes included with the CD. More than an hour of music including viola da gamba solos, duos, and viol consorts with up to five parts plus percussion. Much of the music is performed from printed editions found in our Full Catalog. For bass viol players, we offer a companion edition of printed music (The Vocal Viol, Rip-10, $16) with five duos featured on this recording.
